Ha Noi - Mai Chau (L, D)

Your driver and guide will pick you up at your hotel in Hanoi in the morning before taking you along highway No. 6 to Mai Chau; a small town nestled in the midst of a lust valley surrounded by emerald-green rice fields. Along the way you can relax and enjoy the views of the amazingly scenic landscape, littered with pagodas and rural villages. We’ll stop for a quick visit to a Muong tribal community, before continuing on through Thung Khe Pass, where you’ll get to enjoy the most spectacular views of Mai Chau Valley.
After lunch in Mai Chau, it’s time to get off the tourist track, and start our trek along the Song Ma River. As you walk, you’ll be constantly surrounded by rice terraces and small villages, letting you truly discover the natural beauty of the valley, and also giving you the chance to experience the culture of the White Thai people, who live in the region.You’ll stop in one of these Thai villages for a home-cooked meal with a local family and an overnight stay in their home.

Day 2
Mai Chau - Son La (B, L, D)

After a simple breakfast with your host family, we will drive you to the village of Son La. En route we’ll make several stops at various villages inhabited by H’mong, Thai, Muong and Dzao people, as well as an orchard and tea plantation on the Moc Chau Plateau, famous as the powerhouse of Vietnamese tea production. You will reach Son La in the afternoon where you will have dinner and spend the night in a hotel.

Day 3
Son La - Dien Bien (B, L, D)

We continue along the winding mountain roads through North Vietnam’s stunning countryside, with the clear standout in terms of picturesque scenery being Pha Din Pass, famous for the role it played during the 1st Indochina War. You’ll reach Dien Bien Phu early in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day visiting the various historical sites relating to the Franco-Vietnamese conflict, including Dien Bien Phu Museum and A1 Hill. Following this you’ll have dinner and overnight in a hotel.

Day 4
Dien Bien - Lai Chau (B, L, D)

After breakfast, you will have some free time before beginning another spectacular drive, passing stunning gorges and the Nam Na River. There will be stops to visit a H’mong and a Dzao village on the way. You will arrive in Lai Chau in the early afternoon where you can have lunch and have the rest of the afternoon to relax and explore Lai Chau. You will have dinner and stay overnight in a hotel here.

Day 5
Lai Chau - Sapa (B, L, D)

The drive today is the highlight of this trip. The road is a bit bumpy at times but it compensates with the magnificent scenery of the surrounding valley, pristine rivers and soaring mountains - it really is a photographer’s dream. The 40 kilometre drive to Sapa goes up through the Chin Co and Tram Son passes, the highest passes in Vietnam with a view of Fansipan Mountain.
En-route, you will also see the beautiful sights of Heaven’s Gate and Silver Waterfall. Your destination today in Sapa sits nestled in a spectacular valley near the border with China. You will reach Sapa in the afternoon where you will have the rest of the day free to explore by yourself. You will have dinner and stay overnight in Sapa.
Note: The colourful Tam Duong Market is held on Sundays. It is a very interesting event, with lots of ethnic minority communities coming together each week for the market.
On Thursdays and Sundays, you can visit the Fair Market.

Day 6
Sapa (B, L, D)

After breakfast in the hotel, you will start a great day of trekking downhill to Muong Hoa Valley. To begin one of the most beautiful trekking routes in Vietnam, you will follow a dirt path, away from the usual tourist tracks. Then, you will trek through a pine forest, past terraces of rice paddies and through H’mong villages. You will visit a school in a small village and have a picnic lunch by the river. In the afternoon, you will hike through a Zay village before being picked up by the driver at Ta Van Bridge for the drive back to Sapa. In the evening you can relax in the hotel and have dinner by your own arrangement before spending the night in Sapa.

Day 7
Sapa - Ha Noi (B, L)

After an early breakfast at the hotel, you will depart from Sapa for the long and beautiful drive back to Hanoi. You will have many stops on the way to make the most of the scenery. You will notice how the views change along the way from the mountains into the flat plains of the Red River Delta. You will arrive back in Hanoi in the late afternoon, at which point the tour ends.
